Welcome to Data Solutions ("we," "our," "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, Data Solutions (the "Application").

2. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Application depends on the content and materials you use, and includes:

Personal Data You Provide to Us

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and phone number to create and manage your account via Firebase Authentication.
• Survey and Project Data: We collect the information you voluntarily provide when conducting surveys, which may include text, and other user-generated content.

Data Collected Automatically

When you use the Application, we automatically collect the following to enable core features:

• Location Data: We collect precise location data (GPS coordinates) when you use the app to geotag survey entries and field assets. This is a core feature for mapping and data validation. You will be prompted to grant permission to access your device's location. If you deny permission, location-based features will be unavailable.
• Camera Access: We require access to your device's camera to allow you to capture photos as part of survey data collection. We only access the camera when you actively use the photo-capture feature within the app.
• Microphone Access: We require access to your device's microphone to allow you to record audio notes or interviews as part of survey data collection. We only access the microphone when you actively use the audio-recording feature.
• Media and File Access: We require permission to read media files (images, videos, audio) and other files from your device's storage. This allows you to attach existing media to your survey forms. The Application only accesses files you specifically select.
• Metadata Collection: We automatically collect metadata associated with your submissions, including timestamps (when data was created/modified), location coordinates (GPS latitude/longitude), device information, and user interface interactions relevant to data quality and audit trails.
• Reliability Diagnostics: When the Application encounters an unexpected failure, it may send a limited diagnostic report containing the failure category, app version, platform, project scope, and redacted technical context. Credential, contact, and local account-path patterns are removed before transmission. Reports are rate-limited, duplicate failures are suppressed, and offline or connection-timeout failures are not queued for later transmission.

Data from Third-Party Services

We use Google Firebase for backend services, which may collect data for the following purposes:

• Firebase Authentication: To manage user sign-in and identity.
• Cloud Firestore & Firebase Storage: To store and sync your account and survey data securely.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in the following ways:

• To create and manage your account.
• To provide the core services of the Application, including data collection, storage, and synchronization.
• To enable essential features such as geotagging, photo capture, and audio recording.
• To sync your data across devices and share it with other authorized members of your project.
• To monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Application.
• To identify, diagnose, and fix errors and bugs.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations:

• With Other Project Users: Your survey data is shared with other users who have been granted access to the same project within the Application.
• With Third-Party Service Providers: We share data with Google as our backend service provider (Firebase). Google's use of your information is governed by their own privacy policy.
• By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law.

5. Data Storage and Security

We use Firebase, a Google service, to store your data. We take administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

Data is also stored locally on your device to enable offline functionality.

6. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services and to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access, review, and update your account information at any time.
• Request the deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date of this Privacy Policy.
